Welcome to dplinux.org. This site is a non exhaustive collection of resources for Linux users who are also digital photographers.
Punch line: You don't need vindoze to do digital photography. Linux has all it takes, for much less money (read free). Please read more.
Disclaimer: I am not endorsing any of the sites or HW or SW listed. Unless specified, I haven't even tested them. While based on an open source OS, some of the SW is not open source or free.
News: Temporarily added Google ads again, they don't seem to be very relevant but at least they don't point to scam drug sites as before. We'll see how it goes.

Guidelines
This site is a wiki web, based on a open source software called twiki. That means that you can change (learn how) almost any page on this site. The idea is that if you are aware of any information that belongs to this site and is not here already, you can just go ahead and edit it in. Your contributions are invited and gratefully acknowledged but please follow some simple criteria
you have to register first (to edit, not required to browse only)
be accurate, concise, considerate
consult with me for major changes like adding a whole new section
be aware and accepting of the fact that everyone can edit your contributions, for instance to complete, clarify or comment on information
if you don't feel like editing the main body of a page but have something relevant to say add a comment using the form at the bottom of the page
If you don't want to learn twiki, please send me your contributions as in the old days and I will blend them in. By all means, don't keep them to yourself. It's one way of giving back to the open source community.
Acknowledgements
I wish to thank: all the contributors listed on the site and others who pointed out minor mistakes or terse passages; Imaging Resource, Steve Digicams, LWN and 10 camera for featuring or otherwise linking to this page; PaoloAmoroso for invaluable suggestions on design, html and marketing issues. Harley Gorrell helped with the registration and DNS configuration. Free DNS from http://web.archive.org/web/20070119001630/http://freedns.afraid.org/. Hosting by SDF. Matt Wilkie helped with the setup.
Grievances
Speakeasy/Covad/Pacbell could not provide reliable service to my household. Granitecanyon.com stopped resolving this domain without notice. Crackers installed all sort of clients and exploits on the previous server, forcing a two month blackout.
Slightly off topic
Since we are talking about multimedia in linux, take a look at my HomeTheaterSystem set up, rigorously Open Source.
